B Grandfather’s Appeal

LOREN is a rising freshman at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, where she is taking a seven-year accelerated medical program, as opposed to the traditional 8+ year path. She graduated from Ramaz High School in Manhattan with a 4.0 GPA. Loren was a student at Kweller Prep since 7th grade, where she completed the SHSAT and SAT summer courses. Since attending the classes, she improved her SAT score by 250 points. Loren also volunteered at the New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hopital’s emergency department, where she provided medical care for those who were underserved in her community and learned about various emergency procedures. This bred an interest in becoming an EMT, leading her to take night classes at the Northwell Health Emergency Medical Institute.
Throughout her high school academic career, Sanjana took AP Computer Science A, AP Biology, AP French Language and Composition, and AP Calculus AB. She also self-studied for the AP English Language and Composition exam, on which she scored a 5. She scored a 34 on her ACT, a 780 on the SAT Biology Subject Test, and a 740 on the SAT French Reading mcap discord Subject Test. Her passion for French in high school inspired her to continue it in college, and she hopes to study abroad in Morocco. Last summer, she worked as a tutor in French, English, Math, and taught a group of students in preparation for the Hunter Entrance Exam. She has also worked as an instructor at Kumon throughout high school.
Mia’s 12th-grade coursework includes AP Statistics, French 4, and Engineering. Mia’s 11th-grade coursework included AP Computer Science Principles, Honors Pre-Calculus, and AP U.S History. In eighth grade, Mia received acceptance into Marymount High School through the Butler Scholarship that allowed her $200,000 in scholarship money. In fact, Mia took a number of tough entrance exams throughout the 8th grade, including the TACHS, the SHSAT, the ISEE, the SSAT, the COOP, mcap discord the HSPT, and the Scholarship Exams. After taking the PSAT-NMSQT in her junior year, she has been recognized by College Board in the National Merit Scholarship Recognition Program for her high score. Mia is the captain of her school’s varsity fencing team, a mentor to freshman in her school’s peer assistance club, and a member of Model United Nations. She has interned with New York politicians and political organizations to make positive changes in her community.

Loren also volunteered at the ophthalmology department at the Manhattan Ear, Eye, and Throat Hospital, where she observed and learned from various surgeries. Additionally, she worked at a doctor’s office that specializes in gastroenterology and internal medicine. There she received hands-on experience with patient care and managed medical documentation. However, Loren did not only consume herself with various medical work; she was also on her school’s track team for her while high school career. Loren attended Kweller Prep throughout her years at Ramaz, and credits this program with serving as a guiding light when she took the most challenging courses possible at her high school.

Outside of academics, Sanjana enjoys baking extravagant desserts and hanging out with her good friend Amber, a HCHS graduate who also works at Kweller Prep. RUDY is currently pursuing his Master’s in Computer Science at The Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, located in the heart of Boston. mcap discord Because his classes are online, Rudy is teaching in-person classes at Kweller Queens (lucky us!). Rudy graduated from St Joseph’s College with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering finishing with a 3.67/4.0 GPA. Rudy attended college on a full scholarship and was even featured in the school’s commercial.

At Johns Hopkins, she majored in Medicine, Science, and the Humanities with a concentration in Writing Seminars. She graduated in three years, a year early with a 4.0/4.0 major GPA. mcap discord While at college, she participated in a myriad of activities, including volunteering at Johns Hopkins Hospital with both Child Life and with the Pediatric Emergency Department.
She attended Kweller Prep the summer before she started 8th grade in preparation for the SHSAT. Diana attended Kweller Prep throughout high school and participated in our SAT classes and college interviews. When not at Kweller Prep, Diana goes to the gym- she participates in mixed martial arts, including jiu-jitsu, Tai Kwon Do and kickboxing. There he currently takes Physics II, Biology II, Chemistry II, Comparative Politics, and Statistics. Attending on nearly a full scholarship, he is the Outreach Director for East Atlanta Camp Kesem, an organization that holds a free camp for kids whose parents have cancer. He also is a research assistant for the Social Emotional Ethical Learning Center. Last summer, Zaid volunteered for his local Assemblywoman and continued research at NYU Langone, while working at Kweller Prep.
She aspires to eventually work as a biology teacher at Hunter College High School, her alma mater. SANJANA attends Cornell University, where she is pursuing an Economics major and a French minor in the College of Arts and Sciences. On-campus, she writes for the dining section of the Cornell Daily Sun and is an orientation leader, in which she will guide the incoming freshman classes and serve as a role model for the University. Aside from the coursework required for her major and minor, mcap discord Sanjana has taken various computer science classes and can code in Java and Python. Sanjana attended Hunter College High School, where she created and grew Hunter’s speech team and was a literary editor for the yearbook. Sanjana excels at writing, having earned numerous Scholastic Art & Writing Award silver and gold keys in poetry, short story, and event photography. She was also a mentee in the Girls Write Now Digital Media Program, a selective writing program for high school students.
